How to Get out of Debt and Stay that way!

An excerpt from Chapter Four - Put Down the Credit Card - Stop Digging!
"This has to be the most obvious step, but it seems to be the hardest one to accomplish. It is imperative that you ultimately reach the goal of having no balance on a credit card. I’m not saying that you have to cut them all up and close all of your accounts. Actually, that’s a bad move. But, don’t use the excuse of needing them “just in case of an emergency” to give you a reason to have eleven cards. Because that new pair of Jimmy Choos was certainly not an emergency purchase.
Credit cards aren’t inherently evil. On the contrary, they can be quite helpful, if used responsibly. Buying items online, for instance, should only be purchased with a credit card. Should something go bad with the transaction (like an EBay seller swiped your cash and didn’t send you the Bugs Bunny pajamas you ordered), then you have recourse. You can challenge the charge and have it refunded to you. That’s not easily done with cash, check or debit card. But, keep in mind that if you don’t pay the balance off before the end of the month, you could end up paying three times the price of the PJs by the time it’s over with, which negates the whole purpose of getting a good deal on EBay anyway."
